The Week In Review And A Look Ahead

TSX Venture Exchange and Gold

It was a relatively quiet week for the Venture on significantly lower volume than the previous week (last round of holiday time for many investors?), and the Index finished essentially unchanged at 833.  Technically, though, the Venture’s 7-week winning streak (a gain of 17% during that time) was snapped as it retreated a miniscule one-fifth of a point (833.29 to 833.11).

Are there signs that the Venture is about to enter a “corrective phase”, or does it remain on a “launch pad” for a push even higher?

  1. This week was definitely time to relax and enjoy the late summer sunshine before going into Fall….However, Jon, do you see a late summer rally in the laat week of August as some people are suggesting??? Also, 1000 Venture is very possible in September!

  2. I would expect the last few trading days in particular, Steven1, to be strong and set the tone for September, and incidentally that’s immediately after Jackson Hole. Could be a repeat of 2010. That year, the last 5 trading sessions of August the market really started to surge, and September of course was red-hot.

We haven’t had a good September since 2010. That’s about to change.
