BMR Morning Market Musings…

Gold has traded between $1,066 and $1,081 so far today…as of 8:00 am Pacific, bullion is up $12 an ounce at $1,078 (resistance at $1,080)…Silver has jumped another 20 cents to $14.28…Copper has added 2 cents to $2.14…Crude Oil has dipped 34 cents a barrel to $34.39 while the U.S. Dollar Index has fallen one-quarter of a point to 98.46

Base metals Nickel, Copper and Zinc have declined steeply in 2015, but last week Morgan Stanley chose them as their top picks for 2016…this comes as Chinese producers ramp down their output, while miners outside China have also started taking measures to reduce global supply…

A judge in Brazil’s state of Minas Gerais has frozen the Brazilian assets of mining giants BHP Billiton and Vale SA after determining their joint venture Samarco was unable to pay for damage caused by the bursting of a dam at its mine last month…in a decision issued late on Friday, the judge ruled that Vale and BHP could be held responsible for the disaster at the iron ore mine in the state of Minas Gerais, for which the government is demanding 20 billion reais ($5 billion U.S)…the companies are able to appeal…the dam burst, which turned into Brazil’s worst-ever environmental disaster, killed 16 people, left hundreds homeless and polluted a river 800 km long that flows across two states…

Crude Oil Update

The Oil markets continued their bear run today with Brent Oil, the global benchmark, hitting lows ($36) not seen since July 2004 as an expanding global surplus due to high-paced production sparked fears prices will fall further…its U.S. counterpart, West Texas Intermediate, is also under pressure today…in yet another seismic shift for the Oil industry, President Obama on Friday signed a spending law (that in itself is a story for another day) that also removed the 40-year ban on U.S. Oil exports…with domestic production up and gas prices down, political opponents of the ban seized an opportunity in Congress to push through the measure…the end of the ban, however, has sparked fresh concerns about a rising global surplus…

The price of Crude is set for its largest monthly percentage decline in 7 years…

In today’s Morning Musings

1.  The long dollar/short Gold trade remains very crowded (good news for Gold bulls)…

2.  Venture long-term chart should give comfort, not despair, to investors…

3.  Fission Uranium (FCU, TSX-V) cuts a deal with a Chinese company for the PLS Property…

  9. Regarding GGI, I am hoping somebody knows something and that’s why the buying volume today. Could a news release be close? Been picking up some beaten up stocks the last couple days with strong balance sheets ie PGM, BOE, also picked up some KSK today at .015 as I think at .015 there can’t be much downside. This is the week for those last minute deals.

  11. Jon – thx for the Liberal transparency stuff… how is the band leader above the law for pocketing the dough??? and do the residents of that reserve party to that info?? that is the only way we can hold some of these buffoons accountable by creating a revolt among the ranks…
and NOW how do we do that..??? opps cant!:( oh shite!

    Comment by Jeremy — December 21, 2015 @ 5:10 pm

  12. Jeremy, it’s interesting how the mainstream media just glossed over that announcement, which was put out by the govt. at the end of the week before Christmas…it was a very smart piece of legislation that was introduced by the previous government, and supported by some within the First Nations community as well….don’t understand the Liberals’ thinking on this…

  14. Jon .. I do… non-combatant… also I understand that the FN’s land claims may include more than we think … the Liberals know this because they gave it away in the first place.. and if they dont play nice then the FN’s will take the claims to court.. in effect we will all be paying rent to the FN’s…\
could it be that bad?? just maybe…
it sticks to high heaven… like really stinks..

and as always we have no recourse!!

  16. LTE.C appears not much for sale under 1.15 now. I suggest looking at the chart and level 2. Big insider ownership with only 30M outstanding. I’m expecting big moves from this company.

  19. GGI…150000 on the sell at .125 ?

    Comment by weatheritout — December 22, 2015 @ 5:52 am

  20. GGI – bid and ask at 0.125? havent seen this before on GGI

    Comment by George — December 22, 2015 @ 5:56 am

  21. Very strange, George….the only thing I can think of is that unless someone is playing games ahead of the open, it’s a year-end related thing for an investor (market – i.e., forced sell order). Bizarre. Makes absolutely no sense.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 5:58 am

  22. Ggi script would not include NR week before Christmas. Brokerage sector is essentially on holidays now, next week also off, couple of BIG investment shows in Jan., this is the intent the NR will be released prior to. For example, stir up interest of crowd, point of discussion at CambridgeHouse.

    Comment by Barry R — December 22, 2015 @ 6:10 am

  23. Opportunity-time…this morning’s GGI market sell order that came in about 40 minutes before the open has all the signatures of a year-end forced sell, one individual off-side in their account perhaps…month-end settlement is actually Thursday…there can be no other reason for that order. So we get a 20% off sale first thing this morning.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 6:20 am

  24. Does anyone have any idea how DBV is progressing in relation to getting the lab results sent off? I seem to remember a few saying that DBV was focused to get samples to the lab prior to Christmas. Cheers.

    Comment by ChetBaker — December 22, 2015 @ 6:22 am

  25. Well…kinda disappointing for GGI and DBV…never really got any speculation into them. But as far as the fundamentals I still believe in them. I kinda feel like Barry also..they’re written off till the new year now. We’ll see what 2016 brings. Enjoy all!!!!…till next year

  27. GGI – So who bought shares this morning?

    Comment by George — December 22, 2015 @ 6:42 am

  28. GGI – seller still had a few trading days to sell at a loss assuming this is the case so why liquidate so quickly at market? If this is tax loss selling the seller didn’t execute this very well in their favour unless the goal was the biggest loss possible…..definitely not a winning strategy in the market.

This Sheslay thing hasn’t paid off yet. I think 2016 things will change. Patience should pay off.

    Comment by DDD4 — December 22, 2015 @ 6:45 am

  29. Could the GGI be tax loss selling? House 7 (TD Waterhouse) was doing something odd last week on the sell, lots of 500 shares deals going through.

    Comment by Tom UK — December 22, 2015 @ 6:51 am

  30. I doubt it was just simple tax-loss selling, Tom – possible, but has the look and feel of a forced sell the way it came in. I’m sure we’ll learn more today. Certainly has nothing to do with technicals or fundamentals/news IMHO.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 6:58 am

  31. Maybe we will at least get some type of an update from Regoci if we don’t get assay results
I’m in the belief that if you got them release them especially if they are good. Christmas or not I’m watching the markets and I’m sure other investors are too.

    Comment by Greg — December 22, 2015 @ 6:58 am

  32. GGI selling was by Anon. Are we seeing a repeat of what happened with EQT?Why would Anon be selling now?Anon could be anyone, but usually it is an insider.

    Comment by robinandthe7hoods — December 22, 2015 @ 6:59 am

  33. ….hope it’s not a .10 financing coming..

    Comment by weatheritout — December 22, 2015 @ 7:03 am

  34. Probably not related, but I’m sure house 007 was on the buy either yesterday or Friday.

How and what do you think we might learn about the sell Jon. I thought that only insiders had to declare dealing, anyone else can remain anonymous.

Have you had any indication that GGI might give us a NR before Xmas. It does not look like hole 6 has started so unless we get assay results our only chance is an update from La Patilla.

    Comment by Tom UK — December 22, 2015 @ 7:05 am

  35. GGI – what this anon selling this morning with the large order?

    Comment by George — December 22, 2015 @ 7:10 am

  36. When you see that kind of unusual trading, Tom, the company checks into these things very quickly, so I’m sure we’ll get some inkling what this is about. But again, to me, it really looks like a forced sell with year-end settlement just 2 days away…someone likely offside with their account…unfortunate for them, fortunate for others who got a deal this morning.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 7:13 am

  37. yes 7 house was in 80k to bump it to 15 yesterday,no need to hit the panic button, all i can say is good, get out of the way, nows the time to fill up that stocking to the top, gotta like it….

    Comment by tombc — December 22, 2015 @ 7:15 am

  38. Thanks Jon.

Weather – they won’t do a financing until after some news releases (IMO). I sincerely hope the next financing is one at a level far higher to 10c. So far anon has sold 80k shares, house 007 has sold about 150k.

I have some spare cash in my TD account so have put in a cheeky bid just in case they come back with more selling.

    Comment by Tom UK — December 22, 2015 @ 7:15 am

  39. That might explain the market sell order at the open but we have anon dumping as well. Now 300k traded below support.

    Comment by Treb — December 22, 2015 @ 7:16 am

  40. DBV…bid .085
    GGI…bid .125

    ?

    Comment by weatheritout — December 22, 2015 @ 7:16 am

  41. I don’t think so, weatheritout, I suspect that was a one-off with GGI this morning, on a forced sell unrelated to anything that concerns us.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 7:28 am

  42. This is action of pro willing and able to try to shake the tree knowing Steve R will not be sending NR. Creates a bit of anxiety & intrepidation, leading to nervous nellies selling their position rather then holding on during times of uncertainty. If this action leads to a bunch more sell orders this pro will then vacuum up way more shares then they sold at lower prices.

    Comment by Barry R — December 22, 2015 @ 7:28 am

  43. Unless its a pro deliberately trying to create unease and worry so that nervous nellies/worry worts sell (shaking the tree), for the amount the is sold, the position has just doubled at lower prices.

    Comment by Barry R — December 22, 2015 @ 8:00 am

  44. Cambridge Mining Conference – Vancouver Jan. 24-25. As of today, GGI is not listed as an exhibitor.

    Comment by Jeff — December 22, 2015 @ 9:09 am

  45. Money well saved, Jeff, IMHO. The only event GGI does on an annual basis is PDAC.

  46. YFI back in the uptrend…let’s see if it tries to break the high of the last leg.

    Comment by DDD4 — December 22, 2015 @ 9:27 am

  47. GGI- im trying to remain patient and calm but its hard to believe GGI is at these price levels.

    Comment by George — December 22, 2015 @ 9:33 am

  48. It’s not a bad position George. IMO the market has not priced in any expectations for decent results, so if and when they do surprise the market, the SP will go up accordingly.

    Comment by Tom UK — December 22, 2015 @ 10:04 am

  49. Well just hang in there George, tax loss till the 24th, remember, regoci is an ex stock broker, so he may have been expecting this, I expect next week things will start ramping up, then you’ll be glad you hung in there, to many good things going on here. As per everyone, patience….

    Comment by Tombc — December 22, 2015 @ 10:16 am

  50. Either a forced sell or a tax-loss move, Tom, given the time of the year and the character of the trades – a welcomed surprise, actually.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 10:20 am

  51. GGI – well I bought more shares this morning at 0.13.
Anyone know what percentage of shares insiders, management own?

    Comment by George — December 22, 2015 @ 10:35 am

  52. Roughly 20%, George.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 10:36 am

  53. Not the surprise I thought we were looking for Jon… .20 would have been a welcome surprise. I think your being a little too optimistic.
I agree with everyone on the fundamentals…but seriously…we were all hoping for more than this. Just saying what it is

    Comment by weatheritout — December 22, 2015 @ 10:57 am

  54. Of course not, weatheriout, but that’s the market and the time of the year. I look at at a situation like that, if it’s not related to technicals or fundamentals, to me it is a pleasant surprise because that’s how money is made in the markets.

    Comment by Jon - BMR — December 22, 2015 @ 11:10 am

  55. Jon, I agree with weatheritout on this one. Heavy selling close to the release of results is definitely not a welcome surprise. How do we know that the seller is not aware of fundamentals we don’t know? Having said that, there are always some strange things that happen just before tax loss selling ends, that’s why you need to put in stink bids to be ready.

    Comment by Danny — December 22, 2015 @ 12:05 pm

  56. Well…money is never made with a decreasing share price..unless your short. That being said..I think all of us have had plenty of time to accumulate shares. Even yourself Jon..you have been predicting strong speculation for a couple months now which never materialized…all I’m saying is disappointing…that’s all. It’s not a gift. All right…that’s it for me…We’ll see you all in the new year!!!

    Comment by weatheritout — December 22, 2015 @ 12:24 pm

  57. GGI- its never a good sign when a stock moves down just prior to results. Although its tax loss selling why would someone sell now right before results? I don’t want to discuss the “r” word but maybe someone else finally heard what it was.

    Comment by DDD4 — December 22, 2015 @ 2:43 pm

  58. GGI – it was just strange trading(selling) this morning. They weren’t very strategic with the sale of shares. Just dumped at market.

    Comment by George — December 22, 2015 @ 2:48 pm

  59. Reckless is a better word, George, but I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep over someone’s silly year-end trading behavior, nor do I believe for a second that it has anything to do with rumors of any sort, and I’m sure Regoci will make that clear in one way or another soon enough.
