Happy Canada Day!

Happy CANADA Day!

Greetings from resource-rich Newfoundland.

And Happy Canada Day, everyone – a time to celebrate “The True North Strong and Free” (or at least that’s what it’s supposed to be).

While July 1 is a day to celebrate Canada and the values of freedom, democracy, and entrepreneurial zeal anchored by a rich history we should cherish, for Newfoundland and Labrador it is also Memorial Day, a day of remembrance.

Today the great people of Newfoundland and Labrador, as they always do on July 1, are also commemorating the participation of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians in times of war, especially during the Battle of the Somme at Beaumont-Hamel, France.

During the First World War, Newfoundland was a Dominion of the British Empire and not yet part of Canada. It had a small population of approximately 240,000, from which 1,000 men were recruited to form a battalion-sized regiment.

On July 1, 1916, 801 members of the 1st Newfoundland Regiment valiantly fought in the Battle of the Somme against the Germans, but only 68 answered the roll call the next morning.

When the 1st anniversary of that battle arrived, the people of Newfoundland gathered to remember the extraordinary devotion and courage of the men who had fought and fallen. Since then, this ceremony has become an annual observance to ensure their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

On July 1, 1924, the National War Memorial was unveiled in St. John’s and a memorial park was established in Beaumont-Hamel the following year as a tribute to the fallen soldiers.

God Bless Canada, and God Bless Newfoundland and Labrador – a province in Eastern Canada where common sense still prevails.

The True Meaning of Canada

Justin Trudeau’s message to Canadians on this Canada Day was disgraceful as he continues to “reinvent” this country in a way that’s underpinned by horribly destructive “progressive” and “woke” policies and ideology. This massive failure of governance and leadership is not only dividing Canadians but it’s destroying the very meaning of “Canada” while undermining our economy and our freedoms. Hard to imagine, but by orders of magnitude Justin Trudeau has actually inflicted more harm on Canada than his father managed to do decades ago, and it took a generation to fix the financial mess Pierre Trudeau created. Western alienation is still a problem, even worse after 7 years of “Justin” now propped up by his friends in the NDP.

Here’s what Trudeau actually said in his Canada Day message today:

“Today, we celebrate the place we all call home (really, just the place we call “home”?).

Now I know for some, our country’s historic wrongs can make that difficult.

But while we can’t change history, we can put in the work to build a better future.”

The fight to Take Back Our Country from failed “progressives” led by Trudeau has only just started.

In these unusual times especially, it’s important to Stand Up for Canada and Build Up our country rather than repeatedly apologizing for it and tearing it down.

We are incredibly fortunate to live in this country with the opportunities God has blessed us with. Our success has not occurred by accident. Canadians built a powerful nation through a hard working entrepreneurial spirit and an unshakable commitment to freedom and democracy. We have a cherished history. We’ve had visionary leaders at all levels of society, and of course we must never forget the many brave men and women who fought for Canada and made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our nation free and prosperous.

Do not let your heart be troubled.

We will overcome this “progressive pit” of despair.

The best for Canadians and our country is yet to come.

Enjoy a safe and awesome Canada Day with friends and family.

  2. Hi Jon,

Very well said. You should run for leadership of the new freedom party!! A got a question for you. If Atlas Salt owns 23 million shares of the new company, then a portion of the value of salt will be based on the value of the new company. Is there a price set for the new company? or will the market decide when it starts trading. Now Salt can be worth more than the new company. This is a interesting development.

Thanks!, and keep up the great work you guys are doing!!

  3. randd51, the market will set the price for the NEWCO when it starts trading; we’ll get into some interesting possibilities with respect to that over the weekend. I don’t recall seeing a situation where both the parent company, and the SPINCO, are immediate buyout targets. Very unusual and the dynamics surrounding all of this are going to be fascinating to watch. SALT and Triple Point will feed off each other, driving each other higher.
